A disgraced boxer gradually forms an unlikely friendship with an HIV positive patient he is tasked with monitoring at a military-run sanitarium in 1980s Cuba.
The film takes place in 1988 Los Cocos, a military-run sanatorium where HIV positive patients were compulsorily confined, with the exception of a weekly pass to visit their families under the supervision of personal wardens called “companions.”
Starring Yotuel, lead singer of the Latin Grammy Award-winning Platinum album-selling rap group Orishas, the film was Cuba’s official entry to the ACADEMY AWARDS®
